Have some items to put in the mail today. Have some reading to do to catch up for the day job. Also, of course the regular cleaning and culling!

ALPHABETICS

A – ANOTHER PIECE – Work more on the clear the counters of food project. I got the 2nd batch of jalapenos dealt with (the newer ones). Time noted on Friday’s tally because I’d used it to tally the older jalapenos. I still have stewed tomatoes to finish up, the skins to deal with and the other peppers!

F – FIND A PLACE – to put away more of the stuff I pulled out next to the bed!

K – KITCHEN CLEAN UP – The kitchen has been used a lot lately and not cleaned as throughly as it might be. The things on the floor were tidied and the floor swept. (5 minutes). The stove top and grates were cleaned (5 minutes) The counters and sink area need a general tidy and cleaning.

P – PANTRY SHELVES – Need a general tidy. The shallow shelves were done first thing this morning. (5 minutes). Still need to do the deep shelves.

U – UPSTAIRS BOOKS – I have a lot of boxes here to go through for the book sale in a couple of weeks. This is where I will count getting those boxes looked at and the culls ready to go. 3 boxes in my car of paperbacks (3.26 cu ft cleared, approx 150 books. 1 box of hardcovers, 2 hours.

Z – RANDOM – Put the sheets in the wash and then continue the under bed cleaning I started a while back. I got 25% of the space under the bed cleaned, need to make more progress on this!

Other Work

I got things ready to mail this morning. Counted the time on the day when I assigned that task last week. I needed address confirmations for both addresses. I added 2 books going out, so the packages will be mailed on Tuesday.

Pulled things out on my side of the bed looking for something for DH (found it in the office instead !). That generated culls (noted below), things to put away and a major onset of sniffles due to dust!

Cleaned the top of the stove.

This is farm day and so there’s not much which will be finished otherwise! I started with prepping most of a batch of salsa which I’ll finish tonight. (Done!)

Also on the agenda, more freezer move/organization.

ALPHABETICS

D – DEAL – with the large metal basket, bags, etc. of food which came from the farm. Some of it will be washed/used right away, some of it will be put aside right away, some of it will be stored in the fridge, etc. This takes time! (20 minutes)

S – SALE WORK – I’m getting ready for a book sale I’m having. This requires going through boxes of books, here and at the storage. (1 box, 5 minutes) Books sorted into book sale books, books going to antique store, books to swap shop, books to writers. (The books to the writers were delivered.)

Other Work

We had more submissions today, so the morning was spent catching up on those along with making the salsa as far as I could. The reading doesn’t count towards the cleaning effort, but it does take part of my day!

It’s our mid-week dump day again. I have books and other just trash and recycles to go. Less stuff. Yay!

ALPHABETICS

C – CLEANING SUPPLIES/WARDROBE – We currently use a wardrobe as a broom closet, the cleaning supplies in its drawer and the tray underneath need to be tidied. (5 minutes)

H –

M – MAIL – There are asst. items here which need to be mailed, get one of them packed up and gone! Beads boxed up for a friend. Have a book, pin and gift card to go out today too! 9/9/19 (5 minutes, to box up the beads, 5 more minutes to wrap the gifts, still need to box these and then address both boxes) 

R – RAG DRAWER – Tidy and organize the rag drawer, things have gotten out of hand! (10 minutes)

W – WORK IT OUT – The new pantry baskets arrived today, 3 of them. They fit where the old baskets were, and work — and don’t quite. It took some time to figure out how to use them to their best advantage and ours.

The new baskets are too wide to go where the old ones did without being either too high to reach or in the way otherwise. The solution is use fewer baskets (2) to hold the potatoes and onions and replace the other basket which held plastic bags with the large one. (15 minutes)

OTHER WORK

I put away the clothes, etc. on the top of the washer & dryer. The time is counted on the day I assigned the task. I put aside a second batch of tomatoes. (1 hour) LEVEL 2: Systems/food.
